LECOQ CUISINE RACING IS BACK!

LECOQ CUISINE IS REGISTERED FOR THE ATLANTIC CUP!

Eric Lecoq is back on the water and is poised to race in the Atlantic Cup!

The Atlantic Cup is the United States’ only dedicated Class 40 sailboat race. The race pits some of the best Class 40 teams against one another in three distinct stages; an Offshore Leg and a Sprint Leg, followed by an Inshore Series.

Sailing with him for the first time will be the winner of the 2012 Global Ocean Race, Conrad Coleman.  Despite this being their first race as a team, both are backed with years of sailing experience and a deep passion for the sport!

They are armed with a brand new, cutting edge, 3rd generation Guillaume Verdier-designed boat, the Lecoq Cuisine. While this is its first competitive appearance, it is rumored to be the next evolution in Class 40 racing vessels

If you are in the area, the best land view of the start
can be found at the Charleston Maritime Center.

We have gained a reputation as the “Dark horse” in this race. This is due to the fact that not only is it our team’s first appearance in the Atlantic Cup; it is the first time the new boat will be tested at a racing level.

On May 11 2013, the Lecoq Cuisine crew will begin their first leg of the race. The Atlantic Cup fleet will depart from Charleston, South Carolina and sail north to New York City. At 642-nautical miles this is the longest stretch of the race. This looks to be a very challenging journey as the changing weather patterns could greatly affect the outcome. One of the greatest hurdles they will face along the way, and perhaps the most daunting, will be the transition around the notorious Cape Hatteras. (AKA the “Cape Horn of the North”)

We hope you are all just as excited as we are for the 2013 racing season! Please stay tuned as we will be updating this blog as more race information becomes available (News, Events, and Team Tracking). Also be sure to vote for #121 Lecoq Cuisine racing as your favorite team Here! (http://atlanticcup.org/poll/)

Until next time remember to Sail Hard and Eat Croissants!
